Getting Started with XBOX 360 game development using Microsoft XNA.

Microsoft XBOX 360 has sold over 28 million units over the world.[1]. And it will continue to grow the sales in the future as well. You can play next generation high definition games in XBOX 360.Games like Halo3, Gears of war2, and Fable2 are popular XBOX 360 titles. Also its hardware specification is able to deliver high performance Graphics in the game.

 

 

Hardware specification

 

1-Custom IBM Power PC-based CPU with three 3.2 GHz cores

2-Custom ATI graphics processor with 10 MB embedded DRAM

3-512 MB 700 MHz GDDR3 RAM

4-Detachable and upgradeable hard drive -- all models except the Core system

5-12x dual-layer DVD-ROM

6-Support for up to four wireless game controllers

7-Three USB 2.0 ports

8-Two memory unit slots

 

 

 

To get started with XBOX 360 game development you need to have XNA Game Studio 3.0, And any Visual studio product (Visual Studio 2008 is an example).

Required operating systems are Windows XP (with service pack 2) or Windows Vista. Hardware required: the XBOX 360!

First you need to download XNA Game studio connect from Xbox live market place from within XBOX 360.

You can find that from Xbox live market place. Go to

All games->Genre->Others->XNA Creators club

 

 

And you need to have XNA creator’s club membership for develop XNA games. If you are a student you can get that free from Microsoft dream spark program or MSDNAA program.

Else you need to pay annual or four month membership price for that membership.

 

Then you need to connect your pc to the same network of the Xbox360 .Both should have same subnets addresses.

 Then you can launch XNA game studio connect for that go to

Game library->Community games->XNA Game Studio connect

 

 

 

Then run Visual studio 2008. Then Select device manager and select Xbox 360.

 


 Then enter the connection key generated by Xbox 360.

You need press Y button in your game control to get a key form XBOX 360.

 

 

 

Then PC will look up for the Xbox 360 and create a connection with Xbox 360.

Now you have configured all for your first Xbox games.
