Kalana will be wrapping up the session.
He thanks NSBM for the opportunity. They hope to have more fun sessions same as this.
Navaka will deliver the vote of thanks.
With that, we wind up this session.
If you are to fail, fail early so that you can get up early. And fail more often so that you can learn. – Hasith
Excellent if you can deliver perfect. But don’t promise perfectness because you might face situations where you might not be able to perfect. – Hasith
Of course you will make mistakes if you dont do the design upfront. nevertheless you will make mistakes even if you did the design upfront. – Hasith
Hasith gets on to the stage and is willing to give some pointers.
More house building.
Groups will form again will build houses. This time there are no specific roles to be played. They will build a house, get feedback from the customer and then they will build another one.
The 99x investors are back on stage to do the same building but in a different approach/method. “incrementally’ building them as they say it.
These 7 wastes cost more money too. If you rework a lot, it will create more waste with this system.
Now we will do the same exercise in an agile way.
Samudra shares this image with us
Focus was on engineering. But a good engineer would spend more time on developing the product but the time of product unveiling, the customer wouldnt want this product.
Samudra is back with the mic.
Engineering was the center of gravity in the early stages of our industry. – Samudra
We are back.
And we have a small entertainment item up next.
Amila introduces some new faces and we are breaking for a break now. dont bat your eye. stay tuned.
In a waterfall model, you can’t get back to a previous task and also can’t get further while other doesn’t finish their job.
only 35% of the projects in our industry are well delivered where the customer would be full happy with the final product. – Amila
Most of the NASA projects are abandoned like this due to small alterations.
Amila shares some real world projects done.
A 6 years old project, delivered well on time with 100% specification. on which the investors spent $25Mil. After using it for 4 years, the product and the project was closed forever.
Cost is a concern.
customers dont know what they want. – Amila
There is mis-communication going on.
Assumptions. Don’t make assumptions. – Amila
Reality is pretty different in the real world. Building a house is same as building an app. You get modifications to be done.
Amila, Associate Technical Architect at 99x will take over from now on.
That marks the end of the activity session.
Overall view of the hall, right now.
Teams struggling to build houses.
The teams have to appoint each individual with each role to do theirs respective tasks.
These are the requirements of the activity.
Eranga and Geethanga will act as investors where the rest of the participating peeps will be builders.
Seems like they are going to have a practical session which will also be a fun and activity session.
Groups are pre-assigned and now they will move into their respective places.
Samudra introduces more crew members and they will take over now.
99x can be called a outsourcing company because we do provide designing other CAD stuff. – Samudra
At 99x, we successfully copied these elements with the sequential flow. – Samudra
We are having the first goodie question. What does a process do in a SF perspective?
A: To connect all the elements together.
If you talk about the overall processes, we are a company who connect the elements together.
And industry which we are in, is very young, evolved in early 1980s. – Samudra
There is a large ecosystem. SF is not about writing code.
business enterprises relies on sf engineering companies like 99x. – Samudra
Kalana asks, are you ready to jump in?
Next up, Samudra will take over and take us through the evolution towards agile.
Kalana introduces the rest of the crew present here today from 99x.
99xTechnology teams wants the students to be interactive so that they can give away goodies.
1st session will be about Agile development.
then we will be doing an activity.
a small talk about feedback and the activity.
and then finally the QnA session.
thats pretty much the agenda for today.
We do work with MS platforms and .Net. We also use various platforms as well. We are named as the one of the great places to work ion SL. Other than coding, we like to have fun. Kalana (presenter)
Here we go. 99x tech team will commence with the workshop now.
