The Prefects’ Council of Royal College, together with Mr. Rohan Jayaweera, the Sri Lankan representative of Google incorporated, has taken the initiative to update the Google maps tool, so as to promote religious and cultural awareness.

The Project in terms of specifications, involves the adding and marking of all registered religious institutes in Sri Lanka onto the Google Maps tool which is used very frequently on the internet.
The Prefects’ Council of Royal College are also taking this initiative to show that Royal College is a gold mine of vast ethnic and religious harmony which is based on the multi-cultural nature of all proceedings of this great institution, not forgetting the students of College being brought up from various religious as well as cultural backgrounds.
The Prefects’ Council has the task of creating a data base with the names and addresses of all of the following.
• Buddhist Temples
• Muslim mosques
• Christian and Catholic churches
• Hindu Kovils

The map marking is set to be carried out on the 8th of March 2014 (Saturday) at the Main ICT Laboratory of Royal College, from 8.00 am onwards.
