Were you searching for clothes that personify your character? Your line of work? Maybe you were disappointed that many t shirts lying around in shops were neglecting your intellect… Well, a group of Sri Lankan IT professionals have come up with Geekrulz to help dress up the Sri Lankan IT community.

www.geekrulz.com is an online store managed by a set of self-proclaimed geeks based in Colombo. According to their definition, a "geek" is an "intellectual obsessed with the computer - any aspect of it”.

Whether you're into programming, designing, the internet, networking, gaming ... it doesn't matter. It's your passion about it that sets you apart from the average binary being.

The Geeks in charge

Their online store started as a hobby. They themselves wanted clothing to express what they did every day.  After a cost analysis of getting it down from another country vs making it here themselves, they decided on the latter. Knowing their co-workers and friends would also appreciate this type of clothing, they decided to bring their idea out into the world - and so, in 2007, Geekrulz was born.

Now Geekrulz is fully operational with island-wide delivery. Their preferred method of payment is Cash-on-Delivery. When asked why they promoted this, "The customer will have the product in their hands when they pay for it. This way no one is worried and we emphasize on customer satisfaction. Geeks are a very picky bunch". They also mentioned that international delivery can be arranged on different terms.

The GEEK-CORE Collection

The latest batch of designs put out by Geekrulz was named as the Geek-Core collection.

Here, they feature internet related jokes, acronyms and general programming and IT humour in their designs.

For the ladies…

This is a first in Sri Lanka! The IT workforce is almost equal sized with respect to gender. Geekrulz acknowledges the role of the ‘female’ in this geeky business and they have launched their ‘Girl Geek’ range.

“We know that girls like colourful, stylish, comfortable clothing (even IF they’re geeks!) so we kept this in mind when designing the tees.”

‘Girl BETA’ is one such design.  Normally Geekrulz T shirts designs are printed but the ladies get embroidered Google-like colours on their ‘baby-doll’ shaped tees.

“Some ladies have commented that they are not the alpha or the beta version. They’re the fully fledged product! We have ‘GIRL’ for these special females. Others who are willing to accept a few bugs in their system have ‘Girl BETA’. :D ”

For the guys…

Guys enjoy a wider selection of designs and sizes.  The serious geeks have “Geek-core” and “Geek inside”. Those who like the humourous side of life have designs such as “That’s weird, it works on my machine” and “The truth is out there…Anybody know the URL ?”

	Geek Inside – What are you inside? A true geek? Then by all means…show it!
	That’s weird…It works on my machine – Now isn’t this familiar? You fix a bug and it works fine…Then deploy it somewhere else? Oh oh!:S
	The truth is out there… anybody know the URL? – Mulder and Scully used to talk about finding the truth in UFO’s and aliens. Here we mean the ‘truth’ about everything in the universe.... its out there... but we still need the correct URL :D
	TGIF - Thank God Its Friday! Now haven’t we all felt really thankful on Fridays? phew….
	I went to school for this? - Let your frustrations out!
	I will use GOOGLE before asking dumb questions - Some people have this way of bugging you... they haven’t quite understood the power of the biggest search engine around. That everything about anything is on it. You only have to Google.
